ABOUT US

We are a mother and daughter duo from the beautiful Northern Rivers NSW.

Lynette is a lover of textiles… and a hoarder of textiles! She is a doer, a green thumb and a good egg. You’ll often find her in the Murwillumbah shop, keeping it green and chatting with our lovely locals. It’s because of Lyn’s love of true artisan craft that our business began, many a weekend spent searching for treasures when her girls were little has made the hunt for ethics and quality something of a family passion. You’ll still find those pieces sitting proudly on display in her home today, timeless and crafted to last.

Macarla is the lucky one who gets to travel. She loves to sit with the artisans and work on designs and relishes seeing the scratches on a paper evolve into a carving, then into a hand printed fabric and then into something else wonderful. Her favourite part of it all is blending age old crafts into something fresh and new.

We both have a deep love of handmade goods and the skill and tradition which is poured in to them.

It’s been almost twelve years now since we sold our first Bolivian manta at the markets, after we fell in love with them and the amazing women who weave them. Our business has stretched and grown over the years and we are now proud to offer beautiful, handmade goods from over 20 countries.

We value the unique skills that are honed through years of patience and practice, and in some cases generations of family knowledge passed down through hands and words. We respect our workers and the environment in which they practice their amazing crafts. We love the time taken to create each piece and the many hands that have touched it on the way from a bunch of raw materials to a finished work of art. We are proud to support the slow fashion movement and hope that it will result in a piece which you can cherish for years to come. Our shipping is slow, our collection all natural materials, recycled and organics where we can. We support Fair Trade and ensure that our groups adhere to the ethics.

We believe this is so important, but we also believe that you should love the piece you buy as a thing of beauty in its own right.

Thank you for visiting our store. Our hope is that you find a little bit of something that touches you.

A story, a piece of cloth, a splash of colour.

Something that takes you a little closer to the land that it is from, to the village who grew its materials and to the person who shaped it.

Our wish has always been to create a place that transports you to one of the worlds where the goods are made. To a hot and sticky bazaar where you get to rummage through the stacks and come out with something truly amazing, handmade with love, and one of a kind.

We hope you love what we have created, we have certainly loved creating it for you.
